ICoTA Launches new Prize for Curtis Blount Outstanding Paper Award

To celebrate three decades of excellence and innovation, the International Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) proudly announces a new prize for the prestigious Curtis Blount Outstanding Paper Award, which is presented annually at the SPE ICoTA Conference in Houston.

To celebrate three decades of excellence and innovation, the International Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) proudly announces a new prize for the prestigious Curtis Blount Outstanding Paper Award, which is presented annually at the SPE ICoTA Conference in Houston.

Winners of this esteemed prize will not only receive accolades for their exceptional work; they will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to present their work at any ICoTA conference worldwide.

“This initiative advances our mission of promoting technical excellence across the well intervention industry. By fostering global collaboration and empowering innovators, we're investing in the next generation of well intervention leaders," said Steve Moir, Junior Chair at ICoTA.

The enhanced award includes:

  • Fully funded travel to a chosen ICoTA conference worldwide

The winner will be announced at the SPE ICoTA Well Intervention Conference on 25-26 March, 2025 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Convention Center in The Woodlands, Texas, USA.

Curtis Blount was a true pioneer of the well intervention industry and an integral part of the ICoTA organisation. The outstanding paper award was named the Curtis Blount award in his honour after his passing on 12th May 2019.

Rules for Award Travel and Expenses
1. Abstract Acceptance: Winners are subject to the selected conference committee's approval of their abstract as part of the conference program.
2. Travel Approval: Premium Economy flights (excluding business class) and accommodation must receive prior approval from the Global ICoTA Treasurer and either the Global Chair or Global Junior Chair before booking.
3. Accommodation Duration: Accommodation will be provided for the duration of the conference, including one day prior and one day following the event.
4. Transportation Coverage: Transportation costs, including taxis and public transport, will be covered.
5. Visa Fees: Visa fees necessary for travel will be reimbursed.
6. Subsistence Expenses: Reasonable subsistence expenses will be covered during the trip.
7. Conference Registration: Conference registration fees will be included in the reimbursement.
8. Receipt Requirements: Detailed receipts and documentation of exchange rate charges are required for the reimbursement of all expenses.
