New ICoTA Global Senior Chair and Junior Chair announced!

We are delighted to have appointed Steve Moir as Senior Chair for ICoTA Global and Luis Castro as Junior Chair.

Steve has been a member of ICoTA since 2007. He served on the ICoTA Europe Board from 2016 – 2024, serving as Sr. Chairman from 2017-2018. In 2023 Steve was made an honorary lifetime member of ICoTA and currently holds the role of Global Senior Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors.

The appointments were made at the SPE ICoTA Well Intervention Conference that took place on March 25-26 at the Woodlands, Texas.

Biographies

Steve Moir is the Interventions Business Development Manager for Halliburton based in Norwich. Previously Steve has held several operational, Business Development & Manufacturing roles. Steve started his career in the industry in 1996 in Slickline with Halliburton Montrose Scotland. Steve then went on to work Expro, Peak Well Systems, NOV Elmar and TIS manufacturing in various UK, International & Global BD roles. In 2019 Steve became the General Manger of Benchmark Wireline Products in the England, Managing Director and finally VP of Sales, Marketing and Aftercare.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Building, Engineering & Management with Hons from the University of Dundee Abertay. He has been a member of ICoTA since 2007. He served on the ICoTA Europe Board from 2016 – 2024, serving as Sr. Chairman from 2017-2018. In 2023 Steve was made an honorary lifetime member of ICoTA and currently holds the role of Global Jnr Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors.

Luis Castro has been a member of ICoTA since 2008. He served on the ICoTA USA Board from 2014 – 2016, serving as Secretary and Director-at-Large. In 2022 Luis served as the Global SPE ICoTA Well Intervention Conference Junior Chair and then served as the Senior Chairman on the 2023 event.

Luis is the Asset Surveillance and Intervention Leader for Baker Hughes and is based in Houston, TX. With over 20 years in the industry, he’s an advocate for intervention and production enhancement to sustainably maximize the performance of existing assets – a passion he’s built through diverse technical, operational, commercial, management positions held along his career. Luis holds a Chemical Engineering Degree from Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela and a MA in Management from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
